[The nitrate salt form of oxiconazole, a synthetic imidazole derivative with an antifungal activity. Oxiconazole nitrate inhibits cytochrome P-450 dependent C-14 alpha demethylation of fungal sterols, which results in accumulation of 14 alpha-methyl sterols, inhibition of ergosterol synthesis, disruption of cell membrane permeability, and ultimately inhibition of cell wall synthesis.
