Ferumoxsil
[A silicon-coated iron oxide, and a superparamagnetic contrast agent used in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). After oral administration, ferumoxsil moves through and occupies the stomach and intestines. During MRI, ferumoxsil generates T1 relaxation, producing a magnetic field and enhancing T2 relaxation, thereby darkening contrast media-containing structures.
