[Ovarian mucinous neoplasms are less common than the serous neoplasms and are bilateral in only 10% to 20% of the cases. As with their serous counterpart, they can be divided into benign (mucinous cystadenoma), borderline and malignant (mucinous adenocarcinoma and mucinous cystadenocarcinoma). Grossly, they tend to grow larger than the serous types and are partially or completely cystic, often multiloculated. A mucoid material is present in the lumen. —2002 ( NCI )]
