[Encoded by human TACC1 Gene (TACC Family), TACC1 Protein is expressed during early embryogenesis as an 805-amino acid 87.8 kD protein rich in serine, proline, and acidic residues, with a 20-amino acid N-terminus rich in tryptophan, and containing two nuclear localization signals but no DNA- or RNA-binding domains. A 200-residue C-terminus with extensive alpha-helical segments is expected to adopt a coiled-coil structure. Although the nuclear protein is concentrated at centrosomes and interacts with microtubules and tubulin, its function is not yet determined. (from Swiss-Prot, OMIM, and NCI) ( NCI )]
