[Encoded by human GTF3C5 Gene, General Transcription Factor IIIC5 63kDa is a subunit of general transcription factor GTF3C, a component of RNA polymerase III and essential for RNA polymerase III to make a number of small nuclear and cytoplasmic RNAs, including 5S RNA, tRNA, and adenovirus-associated (VA) RNA. To initiate RNA synthesis, RNA polymerases need GTFs to assemble in a promoter-bound complex and recruit RNA polymerase. GTF3C complex interacts with GTF3B in recruiting RNA polymerase III. GTF3C5 contains a central helix-turn-helix motif and a C-terminal acidic region. (NCI) ( NCI )]
