[A usually benign neoplasm arising from the exocrine pancreas. It occurs predominantly in young women. It is usually found incidentally during physical examination or it may present with abdominal discomfort and pain. It usually presents as an encapsulated, solitary, and lobulated pancreatic mass. It is composed of uniform, polyhedral cells forming solid and pseudopapillary patterns, and is characterized by the presence of extensive necrosis and hemorrhage. Perineural invasion, vascular invasion, and extensive invasion into surrounding tissues are morphologic findings which indicate malignant behavior. Complete removal of the tumor is curative in the majority of cases. ( NCI )]
